Dietary counseling: The food we eat provides the most fundamental basis for our health. Hippocrates was right when he said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” The wrong type of food can actually become an obstacle to wellness. Food intolerances, allergies, and sensitivities can often be the underlying obstacles keeping us from our natural tendency to become healthy. We work together to determine what foods would help you achieve a better quality of life, including improvements to metabolism, energy levels, mental states, and emotional well-being. Together, we can also discuss whether cleanses or detoxification protocols may be appropriate for you, and how to go through such a process successfully.

Hydrotherapy: Using the application of hot and/or cold water to different areas of the body to promote health is as old as the human race itself. The healing properties of water are very powerful, although the use of water to treat conditions can be surprisingly simple. We discuss the benefits of hydrotherapy, as well as treatment options that can be easily done at home.

Homeopathy: Perhaps the most misunderstood of all “alternative” treatment methods today (and the most difficult to explain), homeopathy is a system of medicine that uses highly diluted natural remedies to treat the whole person – physically, mentally, and emotionally. It can be very helpful in chronic or recurrent cases where conventional medicine fails. Homeopathy does not work on a material level like nutritional supplements or botanical medicines do. Instead, it works energetically, helping a person heal on a very profound level. If we decide together that homeopathy may help you, a detailed homeopathic consultation, with extensive research outside the patient visit, can help determine which remedy will be right for you.

Nutritional supplementation: Often, modifying the food we eat isn’t enough to help us achieve our health goals. In these cases, adding vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and the like can help. Many common conditions including obesity, heart conditions, osteoporosis, and even cancer can be helped from extra nutritional supplementation. Even side effects from pharmaceutical drugs can be decreased with nutritional supplements, as long as they do not interfere with the drug’s intended action. Together, we can evaluate your condition and see if any nutritional supplements may be right for you.

Botanical medicine: Medicinal herbs have been a mainstay of healing for thousands of years; cultures ranging from ancient Egypt and China have relied on herbs. But modern scientific evidence also upholds the validity of using certain herbs to treat conditions. Studies have proven, for example, the efficacy of echinacea in treating the common cold, St. John’s wort in treating mild depression, ginkgo for treating early stages of senile dementia, and stinging nettle leaf for treating hay fever. We use botanical medicines to help treat a wide range of conditions, often with a minimum of side effects.

Spinal manipulation: The spinal cord gives rise to the nerves which provide sensation and movement to nearly the whole body. If joints in the spine do not move as fully as they should, pain, stiffness, and altered sensation can result. Muscle strength can decrease, and the body may not be able to heal itself to its fullest capacity. In some cases, manipulation may also help with conditions not normally associated with the musculoskeletal system, such as ear infections and asthma. We often use spinal adjustments to bring the spine back into proper alignment, decreasing pain, optimizing muscle function, and enabling the body to heal itself naturally.

Physiotherapy: Physical injuries can seriously impact the ability to function in the world. They may also reduce the quality of life by preventing a person from doing physical activities or sports that normally would contribute to his or her health. Modalities such as ultrasound, interferential muscle stimulation, and even cold and heat packs can help to create an ideal environment for the body’s natural power to heal injuries. We use simple modalities to help decrease pain and inflammation in injured or aggravated areas of the body and help restore ideal function for everyday activities as well as more intense physical activities.

Obesity: Obesity is a major issue affecting the health of millions of people today. People trying to lose weight often deprive themselves nutritionally, feel hungry, then put the weight back on afterward. Obesity is treated at CNHC with a nutritionally balanced program that minimizes the possibility of hunger. This program (the Ultra Lite program) ensures that only fat is lost, and muscle mass is preserved. Weight loss can be as much as 5-10 pounds the first week and up to 5 pounds per week beyond that. Weight loss is maintained afterward with the Weight Loss For Life program, which stresses avoiding personal food sensitivities that may cause weight gain.
